The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are designed to cover the entire guest’s Rwanda itinerary from arrival at the airport and ground crossing to departure. These will include detailed instructions to guide all in the tourism business in Rwanda during this time of COVID-19 pandemic – from ports of entry / departure to the entry gates into game parks, accommodation facilities, ground and mountain climbing operators, Events Management, Public areas and Transport
PM Safaris – Standard Operating Procedures
In line with the general Standard Operating Procedures set by the authorities to assist us in operating tours, we have in place some protocols to guide us in our day to day operations. The safety and well-being of our guests, staff and the public is, and will remain, our highest priority as we start receiving guests.

- There are more than 50 staff at PM Safaris LTd including our Driver Guides and none of us has been affected by the virus although we continue taking all the necessary precautions.
- To keep social distancing, safari vehicles with 6-window seats will be redesigned to take only 4 people in the passenger cabin. Safari vehicles with 6-window seats will still be available for families wishing to travel together in one vehicle.
- The driver-guide will be at hand to oversee guests observe the recommended physical distancing at park entry gates, museums, picnic sites, and while checking in at accommodation facilities.
- City transfer and safari vehicles will be regularly disinfected before picking up clients, especially the high-touch surfaces and seats.
- Sanitizers (anti-microbial agents) will be provided in the vehicle for guests’ use
- The driver-guide will take necessary personal protection precautions at all times. Guests are encouraged to come with their own masks; packaged masks will be available at an extra cost.
- The driver-guide will be at hand to oversee guests observe the recommended physical distancing at park entry gates, museums, picnic sites, and while checking in at accommodation facilities.
- City transfer and safari vehicles will be regularly disinfected before picking up clients, especially the high-touch surfaces and seats.

- Health condition of driver-guides will be monitored for not less than a week before being assigned to take clients on safari, including measuring body oxygen level (recommended 95% and above) and body temperature not exceeding 37.5 degrees centigrade.
- There will be health centers dedicated to COVID-19 rapid response and support network; one center will be in Kigali City town (at Stadium), each National Park has got health centers to provide the Covid Tests for the convenience of clients.
- For clients needing more medical attention, PM Safaris Ltd will arrange evacuation by Flying Doctors. The Flying Doctors package covers evacuation to a hospital in Nairobi.

POST COVID -19 Mandatory regulations

- Clients departing from the designated country should have Covid – 19 Negative test results of minimum 72 hours to Board the Flight and a locator form should be filled and submit online to get TRC number the place where the clients are arriving to. And this is mandatory
- After arrival to Rwanda international Airport clients will be shifted to designated hotel for the Covid – 19 test and the results will come only after 24 hrs of the sample taken. And this is mandatory
- Until the test results come clients are not allowed to come out the room or nobody can meet the clients. So we should not book any activity for the clients until the test results comes
- Especially flight landing in night we need to book 2 mandatory nights in Kigali and can only start safari on 3rd
- Once the Arrival test results came Negative after 24 hrs clients are allowed to go for safari and this test result is valid until 120 Hrs with in Rwanda.
- When clients are departing out of Rwanda clients have to take another Covid – 19 Test to board the departing flight to designated country and this should be done minimum 48 hrs departing flight
- Also the locator form is mandatory to fill when departing to designated countries.

Each country has there time frame of test results and we need to follow them and inform the clients accordingly.
