Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Experience

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a guided city experience including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local art galleries and craft markets, or an optional cultural walk in Nyamirambo. This day offers insight into Rwanda's history, resilience, and vibrant culture.

Overnight: Kigali

Day 2: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park (approx. 5–6 hours). Enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda's rolling hills, tea plantations, and rural landscapes. En route, optional stops in Nyanza at the King's Palace Museum and the Ethnographic Museum in Huye. Arrive in Nyungwe in the afternoon and check in at your lodge, surrounded by one of Africa's oldest rainforests.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk

Early morning transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before your chimpanzee trekking experience. Track chimpanzees through the dense forest; you may also encounter other forest-dwelling primates such as colobus monkeys and L'Hoest's monkeys. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch then during the afternoon head back into the forest for the famous canopy walkway — suspended high above the forest floor, offering stunning aerial views of the rainforest, a unique perspective on biodiversity and excellent photography opportunities.

Overnight: Nyungwe

Day 4: Nyungwe – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, depart Nyungwe and journey north to Volcanoes National Park (approx. 6–7 hours). This is a scenic cross-country drive showcasing Rwanda's diverse landscapes — from rainforest to terraced hills and volcanic regions. Arrive in Musanze in the late afternoon and check in at your lodge near the park.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for briefing and gorilla group allocation. Set off on your once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking adventure through the bamboo forests and volcanic slopes. Trekking duration varies (1–6 hours depending on gorilla location). Upon encountering a gorilla family, spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat — an intimate and powerful wildlife experience. Return to the lodge in the afternoon for relaxation.

Optional afternoon: Visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, cultural village visits, or local experiences.

Overnight: Musanze

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trek – Return to Kigali

After breakfast, return to the park for a golden monkey trekking experience. Track these lively and playful primates in the bamboo forests — an energetic and photogenic encounter, offering a different perspective from gorilla trekking. After the trek, return to the lodge for an early lunch before departing for Kigali (approx. 2.5–3 hours). Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your driver-guide and transferred to your hotel for relaxation after your journey.

Day 2: Kigali – Akagera National Park

After breakfast, depart for Akagera National Park. En route, enjoy a cultural stop at the Imigongo Art Center to experience Rwanda's unique geometric art tradition. Continue to Akagera for check-in and relaxation.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari & Boat Cruise

Enjoy a full-day game drive in Akagera, Rwanda's only savannah park, home to the Big Five. Expect sightings of elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, and more. In the afternoon, take a scenic boat safari on Lake Ihema, famous for hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife.

Day 4: Akagera – Musanze

After breakfast, depart for Musanze via the scenic northern route through Byumba, offering beautiful countryside views. Arrive in Musanze and check in at your lodge near Volcanoes National Park.

Today is the highlight of your journey — gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing, trek through the forest to encounter a habituated gorilla family. This once-in-a-lifetime experience offers a profound connection with these gentle giants.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trek & Transfer to Karongi

Enjoy a morning golden monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park, observing these playful primates in bamboo forests. Afterward, drive to Karongi (Lake Kivu area), known for its relaxing lakeside atmosphere.

Day 7: Nyungwe Forest – Chimpanzee Trekking

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park, one of Africa's oldest rainforests. Embark on an early morning chimpanzee trekking experience, where you will track lively chimpanzee troops in their natural habitat.
